The Korean War Veterans Association Treasure Coast Chapter 106 has been organized exclusively
for charitable and educational purposes and has been designated as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit
organization. The funds received by the association are distributed among community and veteran
needs. Some of the projects we support are:
Fisher Houses: We send a quarterly donation to the volunteer run Fisher Houses that board families of seriously wounded veterans. A Fisher House is “a home away from home” for families of patients receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. The Treasure Coast Chapter of the Korean War Veterans Association plans to pursue all of the above goals. Accomplishment of these goals is dependent upon our ability to raise the funds to support these programs.Transportation of Veterans to Medical Facilities: The Chapter provides financial assistance to the County Veterans transportation program. Many Veterans because of their age and/or physical condition cannot transport themselves to the Veterans medical facilities. It is our annual goal to contribute to the County Veterans Services Office to help pay for transporting veterans to the West Palm Beach Veterans medical facility for treatment.
Emergency Funding for Veterans: We donate funds to local County Veterans Offices for homeless, destitute and local veteran families who are found in need of help. Criteria and eligibility is determined by the County Veterans offices. Scholarships: The Chapter provides funds to IRSC to assist wounded veterans in obtaining an education. (The State has a program that is committed to matching our funds.)
Memories and Experiences Project: The Chapter continues with its ongoing project to have member veterans prepare a write up of memories and experiences of their military service. This information is being compiled in loose leaf binders and will be distributed to our county and school libraries. The objective of this project is to have the public learn about the Korean War from the men and women who served and fought to preserve freedom for some and to bring freedom to others. Students learn very little from their text books about the wars fought for freedom. This project will preserve this information for future generations.
